The operator of a Volvo Excavator had a lucky escape on Lahinch Beach recently when the machine became surrounded by rising sea water.

The operator of a Volvo Excavator had a lucky escape on Lahinch Beach recently when the machine became surrounded by rising sea water. The operator was part of a crew working on restoring storm defences on the beach and in the words of a local onlooker “left it a bit late”. With the water rising, the driver continued moving stones while waves crashed into the back of his excavator.
