Marine Engineer

Pat O’Donnell & Co. is seeking a fully qualified Engineer to carry out service, diagnostic, repair, overhaul and installation work on Volvo Penta Marine engines.

Key Requirements

·         Marine or automotive engineering apprenticeship qualification

·         Experience in a similar industry

·         Previous attendance at manufacturer training courses from Volvo Penta and/or competitors

·         Experience of equipment and systems on boats up to 40m in length and ideally of the Volvo Penta engine and gearbox

·         Excellent problem solving and diagnostic capabilities together with knowledge of marine electrics, engine management systems and general boat systems.

·         Good communication skills

Job responsibilities

·         To analyse and diagnose issues with marine engines

·         To carry out services, repairs and overhauls of Volvo Penta Products

·         To install Volvo Penta products

·         To advice on necessary parts required for the maintenance and upkeep of Volvo Penta Products

·         To liaise with customers and maintain good relationship building with both new and existing customers

·         Travel to and from customer locations

·         Travel to and from Pat O’Donnell & Co. locations

·         To maintain knowledge and skills levels in line with Volvo Penta guidelines

Location

·         Position is based along the East Coast, travel within Ireland and overseas is a necessary requirement of the position
